Elena Papassissa

Elena Papassissa is a PhD researcher at the University of Reading, and a type designer based in London, UK. She is specialised in the design of Armenian typefaces, and member of the AGBU Young Professional (YP), a non-profit organisation involved in promoting the Armenian identity and heritage around the world. Her PhD topic is ‘Armenian typefaces from 1840 to the present: traditionalism, Latinisation and the search for identity through changing technologies’. This research project is funded by AHRC Design Star Doctoral Training Partnership. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design and Visual Communication, an MA in Communication and Design for Publishing from the ISIA Urbino, and an MA in typeface design from the University of Reading.
